Red Onions

Blackstone is one of the pioneers in exporting onions from Pakistan, currently shipping around 12,000 tons annually—roughly 400 refrigerated containers. Grown in Sindh, where the season runs from December to mid-February, our onions are known for their bright red color and long shelf life. We export mainly to the Middle East and Asia, including Dubai, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

Our onions are sorted by size, with premium quality sent to Singapore and the Middle East, mid-range sizes going to Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, and smaller sizes, including pickle onions, mainly exported to Malaysia.

Processing

At Blackstone, we harvest red onions on time using the best possible cultivation methods. We wait for the moment when onions begin to mature—when the tops turn yellow and start to fall over. At this stage, our workers bend the tops down or gently stomp on them to speed up the final ripening process of Pakistani red onions. This ensures that we deliver fresh vegetables ready for trade.

Harvesting

At Blackstone, the soil around the onion bulb is then loosened to encourage drying. Finally, when the tops are brown, we pull the onions out. We make sure that harvest begins in late summer, before cool weather. This reduces the chances of red onion spoilage, which means more onion production per acre. This, in turn, helps increase onion export from Pakistan.

Grading & Cleaning

After cultivation, Blackstone transfers onions to its grading and cleaning area. Here, all the impurities and dust particles are removed from red onions in a dry atmosphere using a silky polish formula. All this attention to detail makes us the best onion suppliers from Pakistan. We use this process on every vegetable like onions, potatoes, and shallots.

Export & Shipment

At Blackstone, onions are stored in our warehouses in a clean and germ-free environment, kept away from sunlight and water to ensure they stay dry and unspoiled. Our packaging process follows strict quality standards, allowing us to offer the best products in the market.
